DCE'S ANNUAL FIELD DAY, FRIDAY, OCTOBER 27TH

DCE's Annual Field Day will take place this year on Friday, October 27th!

Reflections Entries Due November 2nd

PTA Reflections is a nationally acclaimed student recognition program to encourage artistic creativity in the classroom and at home.

All entries are due November 2nd. We will have a table setup in the front entry of DCE, the last full week of October to collect submissions. Students of all grades and abilities may participate and explore the arts based on the 2017-2018 theme: Within Reach.

Students may choose one or all of the available arts categories:

Film Production
Dance Choreography
Literature
Music Composition
Photography
Visual Arts

Red Ribbon Week Oct. 23rd - Oct. 29th

Monday, October 23rd - Your Future Is Key, So Stay Drug Free Day!
Become the person you dream of being! Begin with the End in Mind with a vision to stay away from drugs.
• Wear your favorite college attire and wrist bands (to be given out in class).
• Make a difference and bring canned goods for food drive (See list on back).
• Sign pledges in classroom ~ “YOUR FUTURE IS KEY, SO STAY DRUG FREE.”

Tuesday, October 24th - Red Day!
Practice Habit 1 and Be Proactive! Be “Red”-y to Make Healthy Choices. Stay drug-free!
• Wear red and wrist bands.
• Make a difference and bring canned goods for food drive (see list below).

Wednesday, October 25th - Sock It To Drugs Day!
Seek First to Understand, then to Be Understood. Don’t judge others by their outside looks. Get to know the true person on the inside! Never make a crazy choice to try drugs!
• Wear your crazy socks and wristbands. (Must wear shoes.)
• Make a difference and bring canned goods for food drive (See list on below).

Thursday, October 26th - Put A Cap On Drugs!
Synergize today! Its important to support each other. Work together as a TEAM to put a cap on drugs! Stand together to say NO to drugs!
• Wear your favorite hat and wrist bands.
• Make a difference and bring canned goods for food drive (See list on below).

Friday, October 27th - School Spirit Day!
People that Think Win-Win show courage and consideration for others. Be empathetic, confident, and brave with your fellow Colts today.
• Wear your Deer Creek school spirit shirt and wrist bands and help cheer, “We are Colts! We pledge to stay drug free for life!”
• Make a difference and bring canned goods for food drive (See list on below).

Saturday, October 28th & Sunday, October 29th - Habit 7 Days!

Focus this weekend on Habit 7. Individuals that Sharpen the Saw have a balanced life. They take time to make social and meaningful connections with others, make healthy choices with eating and exercising, spend time in nature, and rest. Always stay away from drugs!
• Plan and eat a healthy menu with your family this weekend.
• Do a physical activity with your family like running, biking, golfing, basketball, swimming, hiking, etc.
• Take a nap and get plenty of rest!

In collaboration with Red Ribbon Week, we will also be doing a food drive, so send in nonperishable foods each day! These items will go to our LISD Backpack Program that sends food home with kids in need each weekend. Here are items needed:

• Small canned pasta

• Hearty canned soup

• Small canned vegetables

• Fruit cups

• Applesauce cups

• Canned tuna

• Canned chicken

• Peanut butter

• Jelly in plastic squirt bottle

• Macaroni & cheese cups

• Granola bars
